Ramblings: Friendship through Conflict / Communication

Good friendships don't go without problems. They overcome and thrive in-spite of them. Superficial relationship avoid confrontations.

The key is that it's done in a loving manner.

The delivery, the method and the intent is as important as the context of what's being communicated. Our approach many times can keep our intended audience from receiving our message.

Always put yourself within the shoes of your audience. Get to know the person, so you can know and understand the reason behind behavior.

Correction should be done with the purpose to lift the person up, not tear them down. What's important is that it's done within the confines of a significant relationship. You can not have the right intent to correct someone if you don't care enough to get to know them.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." - Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:9)
"Peace is not the absence of conflict" - Ed Young
"Build spiritually significant relationships: - Bill Hybels

1 Corinthians 2:14: The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Colossians 4:5-6: Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
